Classic British Motorcycles
The 650 BSA parallel twin of the 1960's was the epitome of the great British
Motorcycle. They were well engineered with their pedigree dating back to the
late 1940's with BSA's first parallel twin, the 500cc A7 . The first 650 cc twin
came out in 1950 in the form of the A10 Golden Flash a pre unit construction
(separate engine and gearbox) motorcycle that was well received by UK and
USA markets and continued until the last pre unit models were the highly
tuned Super Rocket and Rocket Gold Star Models produced in 1963 which
today are very rare and very sort after. In 1962 the unit construction A65
hit the streets known as the 'Twin Star' . By 1964 this had developed into the
single carburettor A65T 'Thunderbolt' and the twin carburettor A65L'Lightning'
also available in 1964 the was the high performance A65S 'Spitfire' . In 1968
along came the A65F high rise exhaust piped Firebird which found particular
appeal in the American market. In 1971 all A65 models became the much
maligned 'oil in the frame' models which continued until the demise of BSA
company in 1972.

Visit Jay Leno's Garage for a trip to Classic Motorcycle Heaven. See a great video of his
650 BSA Lighting
1958 DBD34 Goldstar

and also takes it out on the road for a spin.
This is a great web site if you are into old cars, bikes and aircraft. The garage itself is huge
with Jay's fantastic collection of old and new machinery. There are many other great videos
that we thoroughly recommend including the
Vincent Black Shadow
Jay's Mad Jet Bike
complete with a jet turbine engine from a helicopter which melts plastic bumber/fenders of
any car that get too close to the massive heat source that comes our of the rear end.
Another great video is a
